This week we made history: A federal judge ruled in our favor, halting construction, barring new detainees and ordering a winding down of operations at the “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center in the heart of the Everglades. It’s a major win — for clean water, for wildlife and for the people who have fought to protect this landscape.

But here’s what we know: an appeal has already been filed. The forces behind this project have deep pockets, political influence and no plans to back down.

That’s why we created the Everglades Defense Fund — to power the legal fight ahead and ensure we’re ready for whatever comes next. Supporters have already stepped up in a big way, giving more than $200,000 for the cause. Now, your gift can go twice as far.

An anonymous donor, inspired by this week’s legal win, has offered to match every gift to the Everglades Defense Fund dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000.

If you were outraged by the idea of this hastily built detention center in the Everglades, now’s the time to act. Please consider making a contribution to stop this bad idea once and for all and protect the Everglades for future generations:

Gifts are tax-deductible, go directly to Friends of the Everglades and are deeply appreciated.

Thank you for standing with us.
