Marjory’s Circle launched in 2020 to sustain the legacy of our spirited founder, Marjory Stoneman Douglas. The group that emerged hails from all over, possessing different backgrounds and motivations, but is connected by a desire to see the Everglades protected and preserved.

Meet David & Teri

Name: David Marshall and Teri Garcia-Marshall
Location: Miami, FL/Naples, FL
Marjory’s Circle Members since: 2022 (David) and 2023 (Teri)

David and Teri are longtime residents of Florida. They split time between homes on the east and west coasts, in Miami and Naples, a frequent trip that leads them by way of Alligator Alley through the heart of Florida’s Everglades.

Both exude praise and appreciation for the one-of-a-kind ecosystem — expressing awe for the Everglades’ magnificent biodiversity and the critical role the ecosystem plays in delivering clean freshwater to South Florida.

“The Everglades is the source and origin of all our beautiful life in Florida,” David tells us.

“It’s not a luxury we can afford to lose,” Teri adds.

This passion led David and Teri to seek out ways to protect the interconnected waters and habitats of the Everglades. They intend to ensure this place, unlike any other, is left to the many generations that will come after them.

“I would encourage everyone to join the fight for our Florida home and all the nature that we are blessed with,” David said. “If you’re not familiar with the Everglades, go out there and learn. Try to understand how our system works for our own benefit. I think that will lead you to groups like Marjory’s Circle.”
