Progress or Decline?

Biodiversity In Peril: The Stoplight Indicators

In an effort to apply cutting edge science to measure progress in restoring the Everglades ecosystem a Science Coordination Group (SCG) was formed under The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan or CERP.

The group is made up of independent academic experts on various indicators, which have been discovered to be important for the general health of The Everglades. The goal was to develop a small and manageable number of indicators to measure the progress, or lack of it, in restoring the rich biodiversity of The Everglades. Every two years the SCG produces a report meant to be accessible to non-scientists, including policy-makers, providing a synopsis of highly technical and complex topics in a manner that is easy for non-scientists to read and interpret. [37] [38] [39]
